Two Acrylic Paintings. I collected some doodles and sketches I was doing during this period of time and copied and repeated them onto two large canvases. These explore the idea of the subconscious and conscious, of how we can visually represent thoughts or the process and patterns of our minds.
Acrylic on Canvas
This work is made using Acrylic Paints, Metal, Balloons and thread. I also used the wooden frames of the canvases, as well as the canvas itself as an added material.
This work portrays the lingering pain and anxiety that comes from emotional abuse.
Emotional and psychological abuse, for instance, are not as visible as physical abuse as they are not often seen on the outside of one's body. I wanted to show how wounded and hurt this sort of abuse can make you feel by linking and being inspired by physical abuse, the colours and textures of skin, the contrast of the softness and the harshness of the material links to pain and vulnerability.
